Detectives continue investigating a pair of Saturday night shootings stemming from a party at Spessard Holland North Beach Park, leaving one victim dead and another critically injured.

"From everything our investigation has shown us so far, this activity is all gang-related," Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said during a Saturday night Facebook video filmed at the park.

Based on the preliminary investigation, BCSO detectives believe the shootings were a targeted attack and there is no danger to the general public, a press release said.

Neither the male shooting victim who died nor the critically injured victim had been identified by Monday morning. Messages seeking information were left for sheriff's spokesperson Tod Goodyear.

About 6:30 p.m. Saturday, 911 dispatchers received a call reporting a shooting at Spessard Holland North Beach Park. While deputies were driving to the scene, they were flagged down by a motorist who had parked a black sport-utility vehicle on the shoulder off the east side of the Melbourne Causeway.

Inside the vehicle was a second shooting victim. They had left the initial scene and were en route to Melbourne, Ivey said.

The shooters fled the park in a truck, but were later apprehended, Ivey said.

"With the assistance of Palm Bay PD and Melbourne PD, that truck was stopped. The occupants fled. And we've got two of those individuals in custody at this time and are currently evaluating their charges," Ivey said in the video.

The north and south units of Spessard Holland Beach Park are located along State Road A1A on unincorporated Brevard's barrier island, just south of Melbourne Beach town limits.

Investigators ask anyone with information about the shootings to call Agent Neil Lee of the BCSO Homicide Unit at 321-952-6371 or Central Florida Crimeline, which accepts anonymous tips that could be eligible for cash rewards, at 800-423-TIPS.
