Investigation underway after woman dropped off downtown dies

ST. LOUIS – One of two women who were dropped off near St. Louis City Hall overnight after sustaining serious injuries in an earlier accident has died.

Emergency crews were near the intersection of Market Street and Tucker Boulevard for a separate incident when a witness dropped off two women who were allegedly involved in a serious accident at Broadway and Campbell Street in north St. Louis.

“It’s a tragedy that that had happened,” Cynestra Sinclar, who works nearby, said. “This location over here is always going fast; no one’s stopping, no one being productive in the way they drive.”

Officials say both women were transported to the hospital where one of them succumbed to her injuries. Residents say they are saddened by the news.

“My heart go out to the two young ladies…it’s just a tragedy,” Clara Holmes said.

The investigation is ongoing, according to police.
