Investigation underway into police-involved South Euclid Walmart shooting

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio (WJW) — The FOX 8 I-Team has confirmed authorities are investigating a police-involved shooting that took place Tuesday afternoon.

A uniformed officer was working security at the South Euclid Walmart on Warrensville Center Road when they tried to stop a shoplifter around 3 p.m., a police source confirmed. The suspect ran, and allegedly tried to run over officer. At that point, the officer fired and the suspect crashed in front of Burlington department store.

The suspect has been transported to the hospital, police sources said. No officers were reported injured in the shooting. Agents with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation are also involved, the city confirmed to FOX 8.
