Death ruled “medical emergency” after investigation opened

UPDATE: Monday, May 20, 2024, @ 11:30 AM | COOL RIDGE, WV (WVNS) — After an investigation was opened into a death in Raleigh County, it was released the death appears to be a medical issue.

Members of the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office told 59News the death was a medical emergency that does not appear suspicious in nature.


COOL RIDGE, WV (WVNS) — An investigation was opened after a death happened at a home in Raleigh County.

59News was on scene just before 9:30 AM on Monday morning, May 20, 2024, where members of the Ghent Volunteer Fire Department and Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office responded to a death at a home in the Cool Ridge area of Raleigh County.

How the person died and their identity was not released. 59News confirmed an investigation into the death is ongoing. However, it was not released whether the investigation is homicide in nature or not.

No further information into the investigation was released.
