Interstate 5 ramp in Natomas to close for one week. Here’s why

(FOX40.COM) — Residents of Natomas may need to find a different route for their daily commute beginning on Sunday night as Caltrans begins work to repair pavement.

“Caltrans is alerting motorists that traffic-interfering work is scheduled to close the eastbound Del Paso Road loop on-ramp to northbound Interstate 5 (I-5) beginning Sunday night for pavement repairs,” the agency said.

Caltrans adds that the work will begin Sunday at 9 p.m. and should be finished next Sunday around 9 p.m.

The location for the closure is the eastbound Del Paso Road loop on-ramp to Interstate 5 northbound in North Natomas.

Caltrans said the following routes can serve as detours for drivers:

  • Continue eastbound to East Commerce Way and make a U-turn to use the westbound Del Paso Road slip on-ramp to northbound I-5 (Redding).

  • Use the Arena Boulevard on-ramp as an alternate route for northbound I-5.

The agency reminds residents near the construction that they should expect to hear loud noises from equipment and for drivers to expect delays and plan additional travel time for their commute.
