Internet Safety Expert speaks about dangers kids and teens face online, gives parents tips

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Titania Jordan, Chief Parent Officer at Bark Technologies and Internet Safety Expert joined 17 News to speak about the dangers that could be lurking on devices in your own home.

Following recent reporting of an 11-year-old Bakersfield girl who was taken out of the state by a Colorado man who was allegedly grooming her via Snapchat, Jordan spoke about actions parents can take to address the real dangers that can come from children and teens’ unfettered access to the internet.

Just as a parent should protect children physically such as using seat belts or applying sunscreen, parents should be actively involved in their child’s ability to access the internet, especially sites and platforms where web chatting and calling is freely available, Jordan said.
