The Internet Is Freaking Out Over News That Serena Williams Won the Australian Open While Pregnant
Serena Williams nearly broke the Internet with news that she and her fiancé Alexis Ohanian are expecting their first child, noting that she’s “20 weeks” along.
The Twittersphere quickly did the math, and learned that the tennis great would have been about eight weeks pregnant when she won her 23rd Grand Slam singles title at the Australian Open in January.
With that, the tweets, memes and gifs went flying on several social media platforms.
“Serena Williams is 20 weeks pregnant which means she won the Australian Open during pregnancy and didn’t drop a single set,” one Instagram user wrote on a photo of Williams’ famous finger-wag.

Williams, 35, broke the news with a simple mirror selfie on Snapchat, writing, “20 weeks” - with her baby bump clearly visible.
A rep for the tennis star confirmed the pregnancy to PEOPLE later on Wednesday, saying, “I’m happy to confirm Serena is expecting a baby this Fall.”

In true hilarious Twitter fashion, one user tweeted, “Serena Williams baby already has 2 grand slams.”
