Interim CEO Ross Levinsohn Is Leaving Yahoo Without a Job
As expected, Yahoo acting CEO Ross Levinsohn has left the company after the former Googler Marissa Mayer took the job he was supposed to inherit, reports AllThingsD's Kara Swisher. Less expected, however, is that Levinsohn is leaving without a job lined up. Because of his interim role, it was expected that Levinsohn would get the CEO job. When he didn't, it was expected he would leave, to avoid any of that over-hiring awkwardness. So out he goes, before it gets too weird, without a job. According to an SEC filing this deal went down on Friday, July 27, AllThingsD Peter Kafka notes in a Tweet. Sounds scary, but Swisher, at least, thinks he won't have to worry for too long. "Levinsohn does not apparently have any current plans for another gig, but as an experienced and very well-liked online media exec will likely have many options," she writes. Levinsohn previously worked at News Corp., where he spearheaded the purchase of MySpace for $580 million in 2005.

Related but maybe not too related, Marc Grabowski, VP of media sales and the leader of Yahoo's Boston sales office also quit today, sources tell Business Insider's Nicholas Carlson. Considering Levinsohn focused on Yahoo's media-centric strategy, perhaps Gabowski quit out of loyalty. Or, maybe it was just quitting day at Yahoo.
