In Yahoo Lifestyle‘s No B.S. Beauty series, beauty editor Jacqueline Laurean Yates cuts through all the fluff and frills to share straight-up reviews of beauty products that live up to their claims.

Under-eye masks don’t usually get any fancier than two white, cheese doodle-shaped pads that you slap underneath your eyes, hoping for brighter, tighter skin post-treatment. But then, there’s Wander Beauty’s new-ish Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks, which instantly capture your attention with their fancy gold foil pads tucked inside deep burgundy packets.

As someone who is tired of looking tired thanks to the dark circles and puffiness around my eyes, I thought to myself, “Why the heck not give it a shot?”

Besides earning five stars on Wander Beauty’s website, along with customer reviews that include “super hydrating and effective” and “these little jewels will be a great addition to my skincare regimen,” anyone with a little extra under-eye baggage would be ready to try these out in a heartbeat.

Each eye mask is loaded with a nourishing mix of shea butter, jojoba seed oil, lavender oil, and superpotent hyaluronic acid. Oh, and the pretty little gold top layer isn’t just for show. It helps to retain heat and prevent evaporation so your skin can soak up all the benefits of the serum within each pad.

The pros
The very first benefit I noticed was how well the serum stayed in place when removing it from the packaging. There are many others I’ve tried that drip everywhere and just feel slimy. Not this one! I placed one under my right eye (opting to keep the left eye as-is to truly test the product’s effectiveness) for about 15 minutes and also immediately noticed how the pads didn’t start sliding down my cheeks. This is usually another pain point in eye masks, but this product proved to be different. After a few minutes, I felt a subtle cooling sensation and could feel my skin tightening. Once I removed the pad, there was a little serum left over, and I gently tapped it into my skin and noticed a slight glow-up.

The cons
The only con for me was how fixated I became on the word “baggage” in the name of the product. I was under the impression my puffy under-eye bags would instantly deflate post-use, but they stayed about the same.

Final verdict
While I’m still a bit of a self-proclaimed “bag lady,” the brightened glow and smoother texture underneath my right eye deserves a standing ovation. In the after-shot above, you can detect more radiance on the right side of my face than the left. Overall, these under-eye masks are a great quick fix for waking up your look. I would definitely use them again, without a doubt.
