Get an inside look at progress on KC Current stadium with latest construction update tour

Construction continues on the Kansas City Current’s new stadium which is nearing completion along the Missouri River near downtown Kansas City.

The $117 million, state-of-the-art venue, which was privately-funded is set to open in March, just in time to host the team’s first match of the 2024 season. On Monday, media members were provided an opportunity to tour the progress on the stadium as part of an industry-wide week of focusing on diversity and inclusion in the construction industry.

Construction Inclusion Week is an industry-led initiative that is designed to bring more women and Black Americans into high-paying construction careers.

As irrigation systems sprayed water on the recently-installed pitch, officials with J.E. Dunn Construction started the tour at the northwest corner of the stadium, where a premium bar area will offer drinks and snacks to fans.

The western side of the pitch features 12 luxury suites, plus a large suite for team owners. Near the private suites will be the Current’s “Pitch Club,” an exclusive dining space that will give fans behind-the-scenes access and the opportunity to cheer on players as they enter the field.

The stadium is the first purpose-built venue for a women’s professional sports team. Stadium capacity will allow for 11,500 fans, and no seat is said to be more than 100 feet from the field. The stadium will offer panoramic views of Kansas City, the Missouri River and the Bond Bridge.
