Innovations in assistive technology for people with disabilities

Recently, I visited the 39th Annual CSUN Assistive Technology Conference.

Here are just a few of the inclusive tech innovations on display:

  • Innocaption – Free smartphone app that displays what a caller is saying on screen and offers the option for live stenographer transcription.

  • Caption Call – Classic phone experience with a big bright screen and loud ringer volume, often available for free.

  • eSight – Wearable tech for central vision loss that magnifies things in front of the user.

  • Envision – Glasses that combine a tiny camera with AI to interpret the world around blind users.

  • OKO App – Free app that makes any walk sign accessible using AI, providing audible feedback and orienting people towards the light.

If you want to hear more from the CSUN Assistive Technology Conference, check out my podcast. I visit the show around 17:42 into the recording.
