Inmate on work release runs away, police say

SOMERSET, Pa. – An inmate who fled work release Friday is back in the Somerset County Jail, authorities said.

Somerset Borough police charged Matthew Alexander Colflesh, 41, with felony

counts of escape and flight to avoid apprehension.

Colflesh was on a court ordered work release program issued by Somerset County President Judge Scott Bittner April 12.

Somerset County Jail Warden Brian Pelesky notified police that Colflesh was to report to Abilene Boot Co., 842 S. Center Ave., Friday, but failed to return later that day.

Colflesh was arraigned Wednesday by on-call District Judge Susan Mankamyer, of Boswell. His bail was denied.
