Inmate death reported at Hutchinson Correctional Facility

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KSNW) — Hutchinson Correctional Facility reported the death of an inmate on Friday.

Scott Edward Wood, 49, was found unresponsive in his cell. Staff began life-saving measures and transported him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The cause of death is pending the results of an independent autopsy.

Per protocol, when a resident dies in the custody of the KDOC, the death is under investigation by the KDOC and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

Wood was serving a 50-month sentence for convictions of drug possession and aggravated escape committed in Sedgwick County.
