Here Are the Inmate Case Files for the 'In Cold Blood' Murderers
English literary nerds, ahoy! A treasure only the bookish could love has arrived on the web. The inmate case files for the two murderers convicted in the infamous killings that inspired Truman Capote's In Cold Blood have been uploaded for the public's viewing for the first time. The files were made available at the Kansas State Historical Society's online archives earlier this week. Now everyone can peruse the visitors logs, among other things, for Richard Eugene Hickock and Perry Edward Smith, the men convicted of killing five members of the Clutter family in 1959.

Michael Church, the head of the historical society's digital projects, told the Wichita Eagle the files were some of the society's most requested possessions. Unfortunately, these documents don't illuminate any new inaccuracies found in Capote's famous novel, as first detailed by the Wall Street Journal. But you can see Capote and Harper Lee, who worked as the author's research partner, on the visitor logs.
