Injured Aide to Gabrielle Giffords Will Run for Her Seat

Ron Barber, who served as Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords' district director confirmed Thursday that he will run in a special election to fill her vacant seat in the House. He was injured in the Tucson, Arizona shooting that severely wounded Giffords and killed six others. The New York Times reported Wednesday that Barber was likely to run and Giffords was likely to endorse him, and several outlets thought this would be a fairly easy election for him. That said, he's probably not going to run for reelection in November, putting off an intra-party fight among Democrats until then.
