New initiative by Western Illinois University to cover tuition

A new initiative is being introduced by Western Illinois University (WIU) to provide incoming students with help to cover tuition and mandatory fees.

The program, Western Way, is for eligible students to provide a financial aid package that offers grants and scholarships for the cost of tuition. Incoming students in the program can have eight consecutive semesters covered financially, and transfer students can have up to four semesters covered. The initiative is being supported by the State of Illinois’ AIM HIGH Western Commitment program. Students going to WIU must complete FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to apply for the program.
