Infant delivered by C-section after crash in San Jose last week succumbs to injuries

(KRON) — An infant that was delivered by emergency C-section following a crash last week has succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead, the San Jose Police Department said. The crash occurred around 8:44 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15.

SJPD officers responded to the area of Farringdon Drive and South White Road on a report of a two-vehicle crash. A preliminary investigation revealed that a white 2018 Ford sedan being driven by a pregnant woman was headed north on South White Road when she attempted to turn left onto westbound Farrington.

The woman collided with an oncoming black 2016 Jeep SUV driven by a man. The woman was taken to the hospital for an emergency C-section. The infant remained in critical condition and succumbed to their injuries on Sunday, May 19.

The incident marked San Jose’s 18th fatal crash and 18th traffic death of 2024. The victim’s identity will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office, police said.
