Infamous ties to serial killer Aileen Wuornos still attracts interest in Florida bar, motel
PORT ORANGE, Fla. - Almost 22 years after serial killer Aileen Wuornos was arrested at The Last Resort, a biker bar in Port Orange, the curious still come to see where she had her last drink.
And at the nearby Scoot Inn motel, it's not unusual for people to ask for the room she used,
Wuornos was a hitchhiking prostitute who killed seven men. She was portrayed by Charlize Theron in the movie "Monster."
She'd occasionally have a beer and play pool at The Last Resort bar. The owner isn't shy about the history, selling T-shirts and hot sauce with Wuornos' photo on them.
The owners of the Scoot Inn don't publicize Wuornos, but they don't mind when people seek it out because of her. One woman wanted to photograph the bathroom Wuornos used.
