Indictment: Man tried to lure child to motel room for sex

May 21—A Muscle Shoals man indicted by a Morgan County grand jury last year for allegedly trying to lure a young child to a motel room for sex was arrested Sunday.

Rhotee Thompson, 36, is charged with first-degree attempted rape, first-degree sex abuse and enticing a child for immoral purposes and on Tuesday remained in Morgan County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

According to the Priceville Police Department, assistant Chief Jason Wilbanks began investigating the case in December 2021. The victim was younger than 12 years old at the time of the alleged offense.

Court records show Thompson was indicted in September 2023. He was arrested in Colbert County on Sunday and extradited to Morgan County, according to Priceville police.
