Indianapolis Fire Department rescues six ducklings at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument
The Indianapolis Fire Department was called out on Wednesday morning to help a mother duck and her babies who climbed into the pools at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument.
A few of the ducklings got swept into one of the drains of the pool, and an IMPD officer called IFD to help retrieve them, IFD shared on X, formerly Twitter.

All six ducklings were rescued — one by hand, and the other five in the strainer basket. After being rescued, they were placed in a box to safely reunite with their mother.
According to IFD on X, the ducklings were born on Tuesday in one of the flower pots that decorate the circle.

A nearby construction company, Glenroy Construction Company, assembled two ramps to go into the pools so the ducks would be able to safely exit the water.
Nearby Glenroy Construction Company workers devised two ramps to place into the water so that momma & her brood would be able to get out once they got back in. They shared a video of what happened on X. The ducklings were reunited with their mother at the original nest area in the potted plant on the circle.
