Pinelawn Memorial Park incident; police tase man now in critical condition
WAUWATOSA, Wis. - A 37-year-old man is in critical condition after an officer used a Taser on him at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Wauwatosa on Wednesday evening, May 22.
The Wauwatosa Police Department said officers were sent to the Pine Lawn cemetery to assist the Wauwatosa Fire Department with a request for medical services at a remembrance event. Shortly after the fire department’s arrival, they observed a physical fight between two individuals and called for police assistance so they could render medical aid.
Officers tried to separate the two involved in the fight, but one man became "argumentative" and "tried to punch the officer with a closed fist," according to police.

A second officer then used the Taser on the man, and he fell to the ground.
Once officers were able to safely take the man into custody, they recognized he was in medical distress and fire officials then stepped in.
Police said paramedics determined the man was not breathing and had no pulse. They began life-saving measures and the individual was transported to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Three officers have been placed on administrative leave, per department policy.
The Milwaukee Area Investigative Team, led by the Waukesha Police Department, is investigating the incident.
