Impressive video reveals aftermath of Russian strikes on Ukrainian power plant
A video released by DTEK, Ukraine's largest private power provider, on April 2 showcases the severe damage inside one of the nation's thermal power plants (TPP) following intensive Russian bombardments on March 22 and 29.
The footage reveals a facility ravaged by fire, with its infrastructure and machinery reduced to debris.
The company has previously reported a loss of 80% of its generating capacity, with five out of six TPPs being severely damaged, describing the situation as extremely difficult.
Russia carried out more than ten attacks on DTEK's facilities, the company’s CEO said on national television on March 30.
On March 29, DTEK's press center reported that Russia had hit three of its TPPs overnight in a massive attack on the power system, causing serious damage to equipment at the sites.

On March 22, Russia carried out the largest attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure since the start of the full-scale invasion. The Dnipro Hydroelectric Power Plant (DHPP) was subjected to the most serious attack since February 2022. Official reports from Ukrenergo, Ukrhydroenergo, and Ukrainian authorities indicate that Russian forces specifically targeted the dam.
According to the Ukrainian government, the DHPP was hit at least eight times – specifically, the plant’s support and crane beams. A fire then broke out at the plant afterward. In total, Russia fired at least 20 missiles at the city of Zaporizhzhya, where the dam is located.
According to Ukrhydroenerho CEO Ihor Syrota, Ukraine lost about 20% of its power grid’s regulation capability as a result of the Russian strikes.
On March 25, Syrota said that it would "take years" to restore the critically damaged DHPP in Zaporizhzhya.
On March 29, Ukrenergo reported damage to TPPs and HPPs in central and western oblasts after another massive Russian attack on energy facilities in Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, and Cherkasy oblasts.
Several energy facilities were damaged as Russia attacked Dnipropetrovsk Oblast’s critical infrastructure, its Regional Military Administration (RMA) reported. A total of 24 missiles and drones were shot down by Air Defense over oblast, Dnipropetrovsk RMA head, Serhiy Lysak, said.
