Illinois town issues boil order following commercial building fire

CARLINVILLE, Ill. — A commercial building fire occurred in Carlinville in the early morning of March 31. As a result, Carlinville is currently under a boil order until further notice.

According to Dan Held, the public works manager for the City of Carlinville, the fire may have caused the water mains’ pressure to drop below 20 psi. Due to this concern, the City is issuing a boil order for all water customers. Residents are advised to boil water for drinking and cooking purposes until further notice.

An update on the status of the boil order will be provided at 3 p.m. on Tuesday. FOX 2 will continue to update the story as more information becomes available.
