SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (NEXSTAR) — Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski (D-13th) said she was glad the house finally passed this plan.

“We could have landed in this exact same spot six months ago,” Budzinski said. “But I’m glad that Republican leadership recognized that there was an overwhelming need to act and that we took that action on Saturday.”

The House of Representatives passed an aid package amounting to 95 billion dollars for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. As a part of the deal, nearly 61 billion dollars will be sent to Ukraine, and 23 billion will go to Israel.

“Well, this country has always been a leader and a leader standing up for democracy all around the world,” Budzinski said. “And so what you saw on Saturday was us leading as a country, supporting the Ukrainian people supporting Israel’s right to defend itself, but also the need the dire need for humanitarian assistance in Gaza.”

Budzinski voted for all three bills, as did Rep. Darin LaHood. He was one of a handful of republicans who voted for the entire aid package.

“If congress fails to act in of support our allies now, providing basic military support, we will cede ground to our adversaries, turn our backs on freedom, and put American servicemembers around the world in harm’s way,” LaHood (R-16th) said in a statement.

Both Congressman Mike Bost and Congresswoman Mary miller voted for the aid to Israel, but voted against the aid to Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Rep. Jonathan Jackson, Rep. Jesus “Chuy” Garcia, and Rep. Delia Ramirez voted against sending aid to Israel, but supported the Ukrainian aid.
