- Sidney Crosby's Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-2 to win their first-round NHL playoff series 4-1 on Thursday. The Penguins led 3-0 early in the second period. The Blue Jackets responded with goals from William Karlsson and Boone Jenner to pull to within 3-2. But Crosby and Scott Wilson scored in the last period to seal the win for the defending Stanley Cup champions. The Penguins will play either Alex Ovechkin's Washington Capitals or the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second round. That series is tied 2-2.
