Ice Cream Bars Are Being Pulled From Stores In 17 States Due To Potential Salmonella Contamination

As warmer weather rolls around, it’s not uncommon to want to stock up on frozen treats for when that craving comes around. Unfortunately, one brand of popsicles are being recalled for a potential salmonella contamination. Helados Mexico Mini Cream Variety Pack are being pulled from shelves in 17 different states after making this discovery. Helados Mexico Ice Cream Minis Recall

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported the recall, which was issued voluntarily by Tropicale Foods of Modesto, California, the manufacturer of the product. The recall includes 5,224 units, all of which have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella.

The affected product has the best by date of "MO Best By 10/11/2-25," which can be found on the bottom of the box. The box is a bright blue color, with images of the ice pops printed on the front.

Salmonella Contamination

The variety pack includes the flavors mango, strawberry fresca, and coconut coco, and out of the three, the mango bars are the ones that may be contaminated with salmonella. The variety packs were sold in 17 different states, including Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virgina, Wisconsin, West Virgina, Washington D.C., and certain locations in Europe.

No illnesses have been reported as a result of the potential salmonella contamination to date, but it's better to be safe and dispose of the ice cream bars, than to be sorry to have been infected with salmonella. Tropicale Foods is conducting an investigation to figure out exactly what caused this potential contamination so they can ensure it won't happen again.
