Ian Chen & Jovan Armand Join ‘Shazam!’, Brian ‘Astro’ Bradley Jr. Cast In ‘Luce’

Fresh Off The Boat actor Ian Chen and Jovan Armand (Bella and the Bulldogs) have joined the cast of New Line’s David F. Sandberg-directed DC superhero film Shazam! The pic stars Zachary Levi as the title character, Asher Angel as Billy Batson, and Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman. Chen will play Eugene and Armand will play Pedro, friends of Billy’s from a group home. Written by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke, the film centers on Billy who can transform into an adult superhero by uttering the magic word “Shazam!” Peter Safran is producing. Paradigm reps both actors. Armand is also repped by Entertainment Lab.

Brian ‘Astro’ Bradley Jr. (Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, A Walk Among the Tombstones) is set to appear Luce, the drama that stars with Naomi Watts, Octavia Spencer, Kelvin Harrison Jr., and Tim Roth. Julius Onah (God Particle) is directing the film from a script he co-wrote with JC Lee, based on a play by Lee. It follows an African teenager and former child soldier now living with loving adoptive American parents (Watts and Roth) in a suburban community. Luce’s idealized image is challenged by one of his teachers (Spencer) when his unsettling views on political violence come to light, putting a strain on family bonds while igniting intense debates on race and identity. John Baker, Onah, and Andrew Yang are producing, while Lee, Rob Feng, and Amber Wang serve as executive producers. Newly launched Dream Factory Group is financing the project. Bradley Jr. is repped by Paradigm and CMW Entertainment Group.
