Hwy 180 near Hume Lake to open after project completion

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The emergency repairs project on Highway 180 between Hume Lake Road and Kings Canyon National Park has been completed, the California Department of Transportation announced on Wednesday.

Caltrans announced the reopening of Highway 180 between Hume Lake Road and Kings Canyon National Park following the completion of the Emergency Slope Repairs Project on the highway.

Caltrans officials say the roadway is now reconstructed at all six sites listed in the map provided below.

Officials say Site six at post mile 126.3 required the construction of a retaining wall.

Although Caltrans announced that Highway 180 will be open to the public on May 10, they also said access to Cedar Grove will not be open yet and will be blocked off at Deer Cove Turn Out.
