Hutchinson man arrested for second-degree murder

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KSNW) — The Hutchinson Police Department has made an arrest in the death of 53-year-old Lawrence “Larry” Coleman from Hutchinson.

According to the HPD, officers responded at 1:40 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, to the report of an unresponsive person in the 400 block of W. 2nd Ave. They found Coleman unresponsive.

Reno County EMS and the Hutchinson Fire Department rendered aid to Coleman, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The HPD says an investigation revealed that Coleman had been in a fight prior to his death.

On Tuesday, the HPD arrested a 31-year-old man from Hutchinson on suspicion of second-degree murder for the death of Coleman.

The HPD is asking anyone with information about the case or who was at or near the Top Hat Tavern, 2405 N. Main St., from the evening of March 29 to the early hours of March 30 to please contact Detective Kelly or Sergeant Jones at 620-694-2822.
