6 Sep – Actor Hushairi Husain who recently won Best Supporting Actor at the 28th Festival Filem Malaysia (FFM 28) confessed that he wants to try roles that don't require him to use his Kelantanese dialect.

The actor said that he is always approached for his Kelantanese dialect and is often cast in roles that require him to use the dialect.

"That's the problem with this industry. Previously people knew me for my comedic roles, so I was always called to play those roles. After my performance in "Bunohan", then everyone kept calling for a Kelantanese role. If possible, I would want to try a variety of different roles," the actor explained.

Hushairi was named Best Supporting Actor for his role in "Polis Evo" at FFM 28, winning against Azad Jasmin, Sri Balasubramaniam, Allahyarham Ramli Hassan, and Hasnul Rahmat.

When asked about who he thinks would've won in the category if it weren't him, he said "I think my biggest competitor is Uncle Sri Balasubramaniam from "Ola Bola". He's very good in the movie."
