Hurricane schools put on lockout after student threatens to ‘shoot up’ school, police say

HURRICANE, Utah (ABC4) — Schools in Hurricane City were placed on lockout Thursday while police tracked down a student who allegedly threatened to “shoot up” a local school.

The Hurricane City Police Department said the schools were placed on lockout at 11:30 a.m. and lifted by noon after police had located the student who allegedly made the threat. Details are limited at the time as the incident is under investigation.

“We take these threats very seriously and because we had not yet located the student we had all schools stop anyone from entering,” police said in a social media post. “We thank all of our schools for their cooperation as keeping our children safe is our top priority.”
