Hurricane Sally Brings Powerful Surf to Orange Beach, Alabama
Hurricane Sally brought high winds and rough surf to Orange Beach, Alabama, on September 15, with the National Hurricane Center warning of a “life-threatening storm surge” in the area.
Footage of the storm shows a wood walkway bobbing in the ocean off Orange Beach. “My pier walkway floating past our house,” wrote Twitter user @kastewill.
The city of Orange Beach issued a curfew of 8 pm to 6 am for Tuesday, September 15, and Wednesday, September 16, urging voluntary evacuations during daylight hours. Gov Kay Ivey had declared a state of emergency on September 14, ordering all Alabama beaches shut down.
