Hurlburt Field tightens security with 100% ID checks beginning April 17

HURLBURT FIELD — Beginning April 17, the 1st Special Operations Security Forces Squadron will conduct 100 percent identification checks for anyone accessing Hurlburt Field. Those without a Department of Defense (DOD)- issued ID card will require a visitor's pass.

Service members in uniform and their dependents (ages 16 and older), DOD employees and retirees can sponsor these passes, which will be available at the Visitor Control Center (VCC) on weekdays between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Visitor passes will be valid for 60 days, and any extensions beyond the allotted time will require commander approval, except for retirees. Retirees traveling with visitors must renew their passes every 60 days and return those passes to the VCC when no longer needed.

Gator Lakes Golf Course will remain open to the public with an approved visitor pass. Additionally, individuals can process REAL IDs into the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) at the VCC.

Registering a REAL ID in DBIDS can ease gate congestion for those who forget their ID at home or in a CAC reader. Retirees can also use the REAL ID to access the base in case of ID loss or expiration.
