HUR alerts authorities of Russian offensive plans ahead of time

Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine (HUR) was aware of Russian plans for an offensive in Kharkiv Oblast, and all relevant Ukrainian authorities were informed, said HUR spokesman Andriy Yusov on a national TV on May 12.
The Russians launched an offensive “according to a schedule” that was known to Ukraine.
“As it is the duty of Main Intelligence Directorate, all necessary authorities and their leadership were informed,” Yusov said.
Fighting is currently ongoing in Kharkiv Oblast, HUR’s special forces are involved in repelling Russian assault as well. Russia has sent soldiers from Moscow and Leningrad military districts to storm Kharkiv Oblast.

Yusov added that enemy is suffering heavy losses and called on Russians to save their lives and surrender to Ukrainian Armed Forces.
At the same time, the Russians continue to attack Kharkiv and its suburbs, several explosions were heard in the city and its suburbs, reported city mayor Oleh Synehubov on Telegram on May 12.
Earlier, Air Forces warned of intensified activity of enemy’s Air Forces in that area.
Russian offensive in Kharkiv Oblast
Russian occupants attempted to break through Ukraine’s defense near Vovchansk, Kharkiv Oblast on May 10 at 5 a.m. EET.
The Russians also heavily shelled border settlements.
Vovchansk city administration announced a large-scale evacuation of its residents.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russian troops had initiated a new wave of counteroffensives on this front. He also announced the redeployment of Ukrainian forces to the Kharkiv sector.
The General Staff reported on May 10 that ongoing battles in Strilecha, Pylna, Borysivka, Oliynykove, and Ohirtseve in Kharkiv Oblast. Ukrainian forces also launched counterattacks near Lyptsi and Vovchansk.
Earlier, DeepState reported that Russian forces had occupied several villages in the border areas of Kharkiv Oblast.
Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi called the situation in Kharkiv Oblast “escalated” on May 12. All the necessary measures are being taken to strengthen the defense and decisions are being made promptly, including personnel decisions, he said. At the same time, Kharkiv Administration reassures that there are no threats to Kharkiv itself.
The White House, commenting on these events, acknowledged that Russian occupiers were preparing for a “larger” offensive on Kharkiv.
On the same day, National Police patrol officer Oleksiy Kharkivsky reported a significant deterioration in Vovchansk: the town was nearly destroyed, and most residents had evacuated.
