Just over a week after the shooting, HPD told News 19 that a warrant was obtained on Wednesday, January 18. At the time, the department said officers were working with U.S. Marshals to bring that person into custody but it did not identify the suspect.

On Tuesday, an HPD spokesperson confirmed to News 19 that a murder warrant had been issued for 39-year-old Marcelino Gutierrez Narvaez.

Officials said he has several aliases. It is believed that he left Huntsville and has possibly even gone back to Mexico.

HPD is asking for the public’s help finding Narvaez, and says if anyone has any information regarding his whereabouts, they should notify HPD.
