Crumby, who was posthumously awarded the achievement, died on March 28, 2023, when he was shot in the line of duty while responding to a call at an apartment complex off Governors House Drive in Huntsville.

Morin was with Crumby on that call and also shot. He has since recovered and returned to work for the department.

“These award recipients truly embody what it means to be an Alabamian and a hero,” the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said.
