‘Hungry Eyes’ and ‘All By Myself’ singer Eric Carmen dies at 74

Eric Carmen, famous for his songs “Hungry Eyes” and “All By Myself,” has passed away at 74.
His wife Amy Carmen announced his death on his website.
“It is with tremendous sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Eric Carmen,” the statement read.
She revealed that Carmen “passed away in his sleep, over the weekend.”

“It brought him great joy to know, that for decades, his music touched so many and will be his lasting legacy,” the statement continued. “Please respect the family’s privacy as we mourn our enormous loss.”
She finished off the note quoting his song “Love Is All That Matters.”
“Love Is All That Matters…Faithful and Forever.”
A cause of death wasn’t revealed.
Some big names took to social media to pay tribute to Carmen.
“Awful News. Eric Carmen has died,” Paul Stanley of Kiss wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “Although known to many for writing radio hits like ‘All By Myself’ and others, Eric was a true rocker at heart. His voice had elements of McCartney and Steve Marriott. The Raspberries did shows with us. A killer band live and I loved their records.”
Steven Van Zandt wrote, “Damn. Another friend gone. RIP Eric Carmen. The Raspberries set a production standard we’re still trying to reach. Deepest love and condolences to Amy and the family.”
Born and raised in Ohio, Carmen was the frontman of the Raspberries. The pop-rock band was famous for hits like “Go All the Way,” “Let’s Pretend,” “I Wanna Be With You,” “Tonight” and more.
When the group disbanded in 1975, after a five-year run, Carmen went solo.
His hits were the soundtrack to some big blockbusters. His hit “Hungry Eyes” is famously in the ’80s classic “Dirty Dancing.”
He also wrote “Almost Paradise” from the “Footloose” soundtrack.
His hit “All By Myself” peaked at No. 2 on the charts in the ’70s, then at No. 4 in the ’90s when Celine Dion remade the hit.
In 2000 Carmen toured with Ringo Starr’s All Starr Band. In 2004, he reunited with the Rasperries for a sold-out U.S. tour.
In 2013, the singer released new music for the first time in 15 years. The project was titled “Brand New Year.” A year later he dropped the 30-song compilation album “The Essential Eric Carmen.”
