Human remains found in Lewis County believed to be tied to previous homicide

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office said detectives are investigating after the discovery of human remains this week on a property in Onalaska, which is southeast of Chehalis.

A resident reported the discovery around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Gish Road, according to a news release.

Based on preliminary evidence, it’s believed the remains are connected to a “previously investigated homicide with a known victim,” although the details of that incident were not disclosed.

The Lewis County Coroner’s Office is partnering with a forensic anthropologist with the King County Medical Examiner’s Office to work this case and verify the identity of the remains.

Anyone with information pertaining to the remains is encouraged to call the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office at 360-748-9286, or Lewis County Communications at 360-740-1105, or contact detectives at investigations@lewiscountywa.gov.
