Remains found in Jefferson County may be missing 33-year-old

DENVER (KDVR) — Human remains were discovered by members of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Patrol on Wednesday.

The remains were found near C-470 and east of the hogback along Rooney Road.

FOX31’s Greg Nieto learned a pair of shoes was found near the location on Saturday and the human remains on Wednesday. While investigators still await the coroner’s identification of the person, the father of Nick Salvagni believes it is the missing 33-year-old, who was last seen in December.

Brian Salvagni said he has been in contact with local authorities.

“I talked to two detectives and they described who they found and what condition he was in. And you know, there are the telltale signs of my son,” he said.

“He also was notorious for going out in a pair of shorts and a heavy top, even in the winter. And that’s how he was found,” he added.

Brian Salvagni said Nick’s dog had run free in the same parking lot a week before, and he believes his son returned to find the dog.

The sheriff’s office said it did not appear to be a suspicious death and there was no apparent threat to the public.
