HTC’s Prime phablet is not as dead as you might think
HTC has been rumored for a while to be working on an HTC One (M8) Prime that would take on the Galaxy S5 Prime and the LG G3, but then @evleaks revealed in late May that plans to launch the phone has been put on hold. Even so, that doesn’t mean HTC’s plans for a flagship phablet are dead, as the same source has now learned that a Prime device will be launched in the future, but not this year.
“Even though the HTC M8 Prime (pictured) will likely remain deadpooled, HTC will continue to tweak and iterate one of the world’s best Android lineups,” @evleaks wrote. “Slated for a first quarter 2015 launch, the HTC M9 and HTC M9 Prime will be the next full refreshes of the One Mx family, with Prime interestingly tipped to hit shelves first.”
Other details about HTC’s 2015 M9 devices aren’t available at this time.
The HTC One (M8) Prime was rumored to be the successor of last year’s HTC One max, and to pack some very impressive specs, including a 5.5-inch 2K display, 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM and an 18-megapixel Duo Camera.
Furthermore, a different leak said that the Prime will be made out of an exotic material, possibly a composite of aluminum and liquid silicone.
