(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Saturday, May 11 the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) held its largest fundraising event of the year with more than 500 supporters in attendance.

The theme for this year’s fundraiser was “The Wizard of Paws – A Night in the Emerald City” and FOX21’s Abbie Burke and Matt Meister were the emcees for the event.

The money raised at the fundraiser will support programs and services for animals entering the shelter that need new homes along with assistance for publicly owned pets to receive low-cost spay and neuter surgeries, wellness exams, and vaccinations.

This year the event raised a record-breaking $674,000, just shy of its $680,000 goal for homeless, abused, and neglected pets in the Pikes Peak region.
