Automotive supplier HP Pelzer building plant in Tennessee, bringing 200 jobs by autumn

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Automotive supplier HP Pelzer Automotive Systems will build a plant in Athens, Tenn., bringing 200 new jobs.

Gov. Bill Haslam and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty joined HP Pelzer officials Monday to announce the company will locate a 185,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at the Mt. Verd Industrial Park. Pelzer makes automotive acoustic and interior trim parts for the auto industry. The company will invest $28 million in the McMinn County plant.

Company CEO Steve Paladino said Athens in the perfect location for the company to manufacture and supply parts to its automotive partners.

The Athens plant will supply products to numerous auto assembly plants, including several in the Southeast.

Site preparation is beginning this month and the plant is scheduled for completion in September.
