Howell's Stitch in Time to close after 33 years in business

HOWELL — A specialty yarn store in Howell will close in October after more than 30 years.

The last day of operation for Stitch in Time, 722 E. Grand River Ave. in Howell, will be Oct. 31. Owner Charlene Hatfield announced the closure Wednesday, May 1, on the business’ social media page.

Hatfield is retiring. Stitch in Time opened in 1991.

“For the past three decades and three years, Stitch in Time has been more than just a shop — it's been a place for creativity, connection and countless shared projects,” Hatfield said. “I am eternally grateful for your unwavering support, your love for the craft, and the friendships we've built over the years. You've all made this journey truly special."

Hatfield thanked her family, including her husband, for their support.

“While Stitch in Time is closing its doors, the memories we've created together will always hold a cherished place in my heart. I will miss seeing you all in the shop, but I look forward to staying connected and witnessing your future creations,” she wrote.

Hatfield encourages customers to follow Stitch in Time on Facebook for details about closing sales and store events.
