Howard Dean: Obama Should 'Avoid Being Irritable'

Former Democratic National Committee Chair Howard Dean said that images will be more important than words in the upcoming presidential debates.

“The key to a debate,” Dean said on ABC’s This Week on Sunday, “is to turn off the sound.”

“It’s not what they say,” but instead “nonverbal cues” that most affect voters’ perceptions of the candidates, he said.

Dean also had some specific advice for Obama: “The president has to avoid being irritable.”
