While it’s hard to sum up a year in the beauty world—2016 has been chock-a-block full of bold, brave and beautiful beauty trends like celebrity chopping off their hair, new additions to the alphabet cream family and nail art have reigned supreme. In fact, it has expanded our beauty vocab, TOO!

These buzzwords include whole host of new beauty trends, trendy nail arts and well-being discoveries to try our glossy hands at!

From the Chains of Love shadow coined by MAC Makeup Pro, Terry Barber as lilt eyes to the ponytail/bun—This year sure has some trends in store that are set to take the beauty and well-being world by storm.

These new terms can be attributed to trending Instagram Hashtags, as well as inspiration taken from the catwalk, beauty experts and celebrity trends—But while the more mainstream trends steal the spotlight, there’s been a few more buzzwords doing the rounds this year.

a. Multi—Masking

The beauty secret—One mask is never enough! You have to layer your products for the best results. So—Of course, this new Instagram skin care craze is simply unbelievable. Multi-maskers gives different treatments at the same time and thus ends up giving a customised and polished skin.

Apply charcoal mask to avoid the breakouts—Use a hydrating cream to avoid those dry cheeks & an eye-specific sheet mask, TOO. Creating your concoction makes it easy to treat combination skin or spot specific flare ups!

b. Negative Space Nail-art

Sometimes no polish is the best way to look polished—YES, they’re the new black of nail art! Negative space nail art is an incredibly versatile design that suits any age and style.

It looks fantastic in any colour from pastels to bright and can be done in any pattern. They’re so versatile it’s no wonder this look has been trending on the runways at the recent NYFW!

Just leave a strip or shape unpainted so the lacquer appears to be floating against a naked nail.

c. Puns

The ponytail-bun can run the gamut from a sleek top knot, to a messy bun or to a chic wedding undo, with some several cute styles in between. It’s a sophisticated version of a low knot.

Simply pull your hair in a ponytail, divide them in two sections—Tie them into a knot & wrap the knot around itself. Give a messy look by pulling out the ends!!

d. Flave

There’s a high chance you own a flat iron and know that you can create waves with a straightener, but can’t quite master ‘flawless’ waves. The undone waves that just feels incredibly chic and was also seen on the runway this season. It gives your hair some texture without the volume.

e. Cut Creasing

Neutral eyes just don’t have to be boring! This striking look is created using all neutral shades but delivers a dramatic flair that is spectacular. Basically such shades looks good on everyone with vivid appearance. It makes your eyes look bigger and sexier. It also ‘lifts’ the hooded eyes.

Simply cut a fine line across the crease of the eyelid with a dark pencil and blend into the Eyeshadow.
