How to make Eminem spend $100K (for a good cause)

It’s been a good year for Eminem, with a top selling and critically acclaimed new album. And the iconic rap star has decided to give back to his hometown of Detroit, offering to match up to $100,000 in donations given to a local charity.

And on the same day that a federal judge said Detroit's bankruptcy case can go forward, the city could use some good news.

Eminem shared his offer with his 16 million Twitter followers as part of the #GivingTuesday trending topic on the social media site, saying the donations would go to Wolverine Human Services, a fund that provides “safety, sustenance, and nurturing and therapeutic intervention to children.”

As of press time, the donations page through Eminem’s Marshall Mathers Foundation had received just under $50,000 in donations, with a goal of hitting $100,000 before midnight.

“Talk to your friends and neighbors. Tell them that they can help save the children of Detroit and Michigan by supporting Eminem's #GivingTuesday challenge!” explains an entry on the site. “Supporting us means that you'll be making a difference in the lives of Michigan's children, their families, and the great city of Detroit. All it takes is a few simple clicks of a button.”
