How Beyoncé Embarrassed Denis Leary in Front of His Daughter and Her Friends
Denis Leary dropped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he revealed that his kids, who are now in their 20s, never thought he was a cool celebrity when they were growing up. Despite starring in many successful TV shows and films, the only time he even remotely impressed his kids was when he took his daughter and her friends backstage to meet Beyoncé.
Leary hosted the show Fashion Rocks, which featured lots of A-list musicians like Beyoncé, Usher, and Bryan Adams. So it was a great opportunity to get some face time with Queen B.
After they waited outside the dressing room, Beyoncé emerged, and Leary recounted how the moment turned out to be an embarrassing one: “I go, ‘Beyoncé, you were great tonight!’ And she goes, 'So were you, Bryan!’”
Leary said, “She thought I was Bryan Adams.” Leary’s daughter and her friends laughed and asked why he just let Beyoncé think he was Bryan Adams. Leary said, “I’m like, 'Listen, if she thinks I’m Ellen DeGeneres, I’m Ellen DeGeneres. It’s Beyoncé!’”
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on NBC.
