House of Prayer church allegedly stalling federal investigation

(WJBF) – A church accused of defrauding veterans is reportedly stalling a federal investigation.

In new court documents, prosecutors are asking the judge to impose fines and hold several House of Prayer churches in contempt.

In June 2022, the FBI raided the House of Prayer churches in Hinesville and Hephzibah as part of a fraud investigation.

The church seminary is accused of submitting false claims to the VA for veterans education and housing benefits.

The church is invoking the fifth amendment but prosecutors say the fifth amendment doesn’t apply to corporations.
