House damaged after two-car crash in Elmira

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — An Elmira house sustained severe damage after witnesses say a car was hit off the road and into the structure Friday morning.

18 News reporters at the scene confirm that a home was struck by one vehicle after a two-car accident at the intersection of N. Main Street and Roe Avenue in Elmira on Friday, May 24.

Witnesses in the area said that one vehicle ran a stop sign on Roe Avenue and was then struck by a vehicle on N. Main Street, sending the car into the front porch of a house at the corner around 11 a.m. on Friday.

Pieces of the home were scattered across the yard and glass was still found in the roadway after the crash was cleaned up and cleared.

Homeowners told 18 News that three people were home at the time of the crash, but no one was injured, including the two drivers.

N. Main Street is a one-way road with a 30mph speed limit.
