[Photo Credit:Dan Loh Photography LLC 2017.][/caption]On Oct. 12, 2017, Pro Bono Partnership celebrated its 20th anniversary gala, with more than 600 supporters—including volunteer lawyers, law firm and corporate executives, and clients—at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. The evening focused on the organization’s 20 years of providing free legal services to nonprofits in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York. NBC News senior investigative and legal correspondent Cynthia McFadden hosted the event, where the Partnership honored Jaimi Wintz McKeon, chair of Morgan Lewis, and the legal department of Merck & Co., Inc., in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, with the 2017 Champion Awards. Ashley Watson, senior vice president, chief ethics and compliance officer at Merck & Co., Inc., accepted the award on behalf of the Merck legal department. Merck is a longtime supporter of the Pro Bono Partnership mission. Merck attorneys embody the pro bono ethos, and the New Jersey legal team ranks among the most active Pro Bono Partnership volunteers, the organization said. The evening’s celebration also included special guest speaker Valerie Traoré, executive director at Food Bank of South Jersey, a Pro Bono Partnership client. Her story of how the Partnership and volunteer attorneys saved the Food Bank $10,000 from just one matter, resolved with a contract review, underscored the importance of pro bono work and its impact on communities.

Madeline Marzano-Lesnevich Named AAML President

[/caption]Madeline Marzano-Lesnevich has been named president of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML). She was installed as president at the AAML’s annual convention, held Nov. 10, 2017, in Chicago. Having served on the AAML Executive Committee since 2009, Marzano-Lesnevich has been a member in the organization for the past 15 years. She is a diplomat of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers, which limits its membership to 100 attorneys from across the U.S., and also serves as a fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL). A practicing attorney for 28 years, Marzano-Lesnevich chairs the family law department of Hackensack-based Lesnevich, Marzano-Lesnevich, Trigg, O'Cathain & O'Cathain. She has previously served as the president of New Jersey state chapter of the AAML and was awarded Fellow of the Year in 2016. She is a past chair of the Family Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association and was honored with the organization’s Tischler Award in 2015, in recognition of her lifetime contribution to family law. “I am honored to have this opportunity to lead the finest family law attorneys throughout the nation,” Marzano-Lesnevich said. “Since its founding, the AAML has been consistently setting the highest standards in the practice of matrimonial law. As president, I look forward to building upon the Academy’s mission and giving back to an organization that has contributed so much to our profession.”

Brach Eichler Partner Mark Manigan Honored by Center for Great Expectations as Humanitarian of the Year

The award was given to Manigan at the nonprofit organization’s annual Gift of Hope Gala on Nov. 3, 2017, at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club in Bedminster. He was recognized by CGE for the valuable counsel he’s provided to the board over the years, which has resulted in a significant, positive impact on the organization. Manigan focuses his practice on the representation of health care industry client in transactional and regulatory matters, structuring joint ventures and other relationship, project financing and structuring, and negotiating complex health care transactions. “It has been an honor and privilege to serve on the Center’s board; I am humbled by the staff’s ceaseless dedication to the service of others.” Manigan said. “The Center’s mission, to guide its clients on a positive path forward, has proven to uplift lives time and again, reinforcing the need for others to support it in various ways.” Brach Eichler provides pro bono legal services to the Center for Great Expectations and co-sponsored this year’s Gala.

Rogove Reappointed to Unauthorized Practice Committee

Rogove, a partner in Blank Rome’s Princeton office, has been reappointed by the New Jersey Supreme Court as chair of the Committee on the Unauthorized Practice of Law for the 2018 calendar term. She served as vice chair of the committee for the 2015 and 2016 terms, prior to being elected chair in 2017.
